Hey guys! I'm so honored to have interviewed, 1DPH's president and a friend of mine, ate Helen Steiro!
So I hope you guys enjoy this interview as much as I did interviewing her!
1. You are an officer for 1DPH and also a student. How do you balance time with school and planning for events?
Balancing tasks is one of the hardest things to do for me, considering that I am in my first year of college (I have to adjust to the chaos of it all) and taking up Biology (It’s not that easy!). I try to discipline myself and lighten my load by making sure that I have my schoolwork done or at least have a schedule for completing it before going to meetings or events.
My parents don’t have a problem with me being a part of One Direction Philippines and are supportive, but they do make sure that I am steering myself in the right direction and always keeping my academic responsibilities in mind. Their support does not include spoiling me with 1D merchandise though, which is kind of a bummer for me, but I respect that.
3. What is that one thing that made you love 1D?
As opposed to their famous song lyric “you’ve got that one thing”, making me point out that one thing is impossible because I absolutely love EVERYTHING about the boys. Having the looks, the charm, the talent, and many other things—what is there not to love? They’re perfect!
4. Back to question 1 what are some tips you would give for managing time?
Self-discipline is very important. I know how it feels to be loaded with work and sometimes, we just give up and become really lazy, putting leisure first and cramming at the last minute. However, you have to remember that if you want to achieve something, you’re not going to get it with the wrong attitude. If you have trouble starting with tasks, remember that the best way to begin is to BEGIN—no reasons or excuses. Make a checklist and start with the easiest ones. You’ll be rewarded with the feeling of accomplishment in the end, trust me!
5. You and your fellow officers talked to 1D on the phone. What were the highlights of the phone call?
Actually, Ate Jeline (VP of 1DPH & @GotToBe1D on twitter) got to talk to the boys. Lucky!
6. How does it feel to be a president of the official One Direction Philippine fan club?
On normal days, I don’t feel like the president unless someone mentions it. I am a fan like everyone else and I am no different from any other directioner out there. Although I may sound a bit bigheaded saying this, whenever I see all the Juan Directioners at events, I feel extremely proud not only of myself but my other co-officers and One Direction Philippines entirely. Who knew that the little fan page I started would be this big?
7. Why did you think of making a Philippine street team for 1D?
After knowing and fangirling over One Direction for quite some time, I realized that my sleeping pattern gone more bonkers since my twitter friends mostly lived in Europe and the U.S.. I wanted to find other Filipinos who shared the same love for One Direction, so one day, I decided to make a fan page for us—a place where we could share our love for the boys. At this very moment, our number is at 121, 083 so I think my plan of finding other Juan Directioners was a success!
8. How do you plan for the fan parties and album launches?
We (the officers) usually have meetings with representatives from Astroplus and Ivory Music and Video, everyone puts in their suggestions, and eventually everything comes together forming an event!
9. Thanks for your time. Were so happy to have had interiewed you.
Thank you so much for having me, Raffi and Ali!
10. Anything else to say?
I would just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for the support you give to One Direction and One Direction Philippines. The efforts we put into 1DPH surely pay off whenever we see you all so happy. We love you all so much and this street team wouldn’t exist without all of you guys. The officers don’t make One Direction Philippines a street team—you do.
